Missouri River Ward Fall Festival 2016

So, many of you may have heard about our MO River Ward Fall Festival which will be taking the place of our trunk-or-treat this year. We hope it will be fun for families, kids, teens, AND grown ups--we are trying to offer something for everyone.

It will be held at Boulevard Park (the same park where we have the Memorial Day picnic) at 3 PM on Saturday, October 29. Here are some of the activities we have planned:

  • Dunk tank (featuring the bishopric)
  • Costume fashion show (everyone gets a turn on the catwalk--individually, as groups, or as families)
  • Pumpkin carving contest (bring your already carved pumpkins and see if you win!)
  • Photo booth (get a photo in your costumes with a cute fall background)
  • Youth-age bake-off (Youth bring fall/Halloween-themed treats which will be judged in different categories--then the treats will be used in a cake walk for everyone to win!)
  • Quidditch pitch (play a game of quidditch with your friends and see who will find the golden snitch!)
  • Carnival games (pumpkin bowling, spin and win, pie throwing, pumpkin putting, storytelling, donut on a string, balloon darts, football throw, horseshoes, corn hole, etc. Candy and prizes will be won!)
  • Candy scramble (each child gets 30 seconds in a bunch of hay and leaves to see how many pieces of candy they can find and put in their bucket).
  • Dinner (chili, mac and cheese, hot dogs, salad--we will have gluten free options)
  • Caramel apple bar (slice your apple, pour on the caramel, and then spoon on the toppings)
We have lots of ideas, but will need YOUR help to make this all happen. Signups will be circulating on Sunday--please take a look and see how YOU can help. We will need individuals (anyone age 12 and up) to help create and run the games. But never fear...IF you sign up to run a game, you will NOT miss out on the fashion show or dinner. You will not be "stuck at your post" the whole night. Games will run from 3 to 4 or 4:30 and then we will do all the other fun stuff! So, to recap, this is what we need from you on or before the Fall Festival:
  • Bring one or more carved pumpkins to the event.
  • Wear your costumes, and kids bring your treat buckets because you WILL get candy!
  • Sign up for some way to help.
  • Donate a bag of candy. (We will be gathering these before sacrament meeting on the Sundays leading up to the festival. Look for donation boxes on either side of the chapel, near the scarecrow signs advertising the event!)
